Tickets for Kick It! are $25 at the door or $20 in advance at the Neptune Theatre box office (1593 Argyle Street) or by calling (902) 429-8742. Visit metamorphic.ca for more details.
“This season will be a great follow-up to last year’s inaugural Script to Stage Project,” said Samantha Madore, Metamorphic Theatre. “We have a beautifully written work by local playwright Caitlin Pilsworth. It will be interesting to see how it develops through the workshopping process.”
The evening, hosted by Andrew Murphy, will include excerpts from upcoming shows including the announcement of their second production, Garrison beer, appetizers, silent auction and DJ Johnston Farrow. There will also be live music provided by Christina Martin, Amy Blanchard and Sarah Mian, plus many more. Chances to win include: tickets to Neptune Theatre’s The Producers, passes to the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, gift certificate for the Wooden Monkey restaurant, Atlantic Film Festival 10-pack passes, a year membership to eye level gallery, 50/50 draw and door prizes.
Metamorphic Theatre’s first production of the 2008 season:
Living My Life in Circles
Opening May 1 at BusStop Theatre, Written by: Caitlin Piltworth
Director: Leana Todd, Assistant Director: Samantha Madore, Stage Manager: Karen Josey
Starrring: Sher Clain (Sunday in the Park with George), Andre Davey (The Bacchae, Pulp Fiction - LIVE!), Steven Heisler (The Threepenny Opera, All in the MacFamily), Lisa MacCormack (The House of Bernarda, Alba Under Milkwood), Allison MacDougall (Soul Alone, Morning Dove), U-E Sampang (theatrical debut)
Synopsis: Living My Life in Circles tells the story of Van, a young woman with a self-involved, eccentric mother and a strict Catholic aunt. These two women take turns “raising” Van in opposite environments. Frida barely acknowledges her daughter whereas Ruth showers Van with rules and regulations. Van lives most of her life telling stories from the past. Men come and go in Van’s life including a lovable handy man, a South American with bad teeth, and finally a kind-hearted stranger at a bus stop. Frida, Ruth, and Van exist in each other’s orbits but are only truly alive in Van’s stories.
Metamorphic Theatre, which strives to translate the human experience onto the stage while promoting local works and talent, is comprised of Neptune Theatre Pre-Professional Theatre graduate Samantha Madore and Queen’s University Music graduate Amy Reitsma.
